Housing Assistance Corporation’s Big Fix

September 17, 2016

12 Shea’s YBA winter league participants and 5 adult volunteers assisted in the Housing Assistance Corporation’s Big Fix on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Altogether, we provided 68 man hours towards making repairs to a Brewster woman’s home. Special thanks to all the hard work our participants put in because you did a great job and maintained respectful and responsible behavior throughout! The woman we aided was extremely grateful for all you did! Way to represent. (Click here to see more photos!)

Dennis Village Cemetery

Gravestone Cleaning

October 8, 2016

We had a great first day of gravestone cleaning at the Dennis Village Cemetery! Thanks a bunch to the participants and our adult volunteers that combined for a total of 60 hours of service and worked together to clean 18 gravestones! Once the gravestones were cleaned, we had Teri Fox from the Dennis Historical Society come down to spray the stones with the D2 biological solution, which cleans the stone with the weather over time. Meaning, the stones won’t be fully cleaned for another few months or so, after the solution has had adequate time to saok in. Although, they already look much better. The kids got a talk from Charlie McGibbon (whose news article inspired this movement) on why he felt this was important and how gratifying it was for him to do. We’d like to give a huge thank you to Home Depot for donating all the materials needed to clean the stones. Thanks also to Showtime Pizza for supplying food for all of our volunteers! It’s great to live in a community with so many businesses and townspeople that are willing to help out a good cause when they see one! (Click here to view more photos!)

Gravestone Cleaning 2

October 16, 2016

Sunday, October 16th our volunteers worked hard, giving a total of 60 man hours towards cleaning up approximately 30 stones at the Dennis Village Cemetery. We were grateful to be inspired by Charlie McGibbons to make our community better in a way many others do not think about but can certainly appreciate. (Click here to view more photos!)

Gravestone Cleaning 3

October 23, 2016

5 adult and 13 participant volunteers contributed 72 man hours towards cleaning over 100 head and foot stones at the Dennis Village Cemetery! This was the third and final project at the cemetery for the fall of 2016. A big thanks to all those adult volunteers who helped us get these projects done! An even bigger thanks to all our participants who put in hard work! It did not go unnoticed by us or many community members who stopped by to show their gratitude after seeing what this group of young men was up to. Please look for follow up pictures in the spring as the solution sprayed on the stones at the end of our cleaning takes months to work its magic with the help of lots of rain and snow to soak in. Cape Cod Child Development

Christmas Tree Giveaway and Yard Cleanup

December 10, 2016

A group of 19 Shea’s YBA participants braved the early morning cold Saturday, December 10th to help Cape Cod Child Development with their Christmas Tree Handout where they donated Christmas trees to families in need on Cape Cod. Along with handing out Christmas trees, participants also helped out by spending their time removing leaves and branches from Cape Cod Child Development’s playground and outside activity areas. It turned out to be a great day as we helped a lot of people! (Click here to view more photos!)
