2020-2021 WINTER BASKETBALL
As plans currently stand, Shea’s Youth Basketball Association will be holding our 2020-2021 Winter Basketball League with the following guidelines:
Due to availability constraints, we will only be able to accommodate the first 54 participants to sign up for the 2020-2021 Shea’s YBA Winter Basketball Program at sheasyba.org
Open to both boys and girls Participants must be no younger than 12 and no older than 16 (as of September 1, 2020) Participants will be required to submit a signed waiver form and a $50 refundable deposit prior to playing in the program
This year’s Lend a Hand Community Service Projects will be done virtually this year! If a player completes community service prior to the start of the season, they will not be required to pay the $50 deposit.
In order to qualify, participants must submit proof of community service. Projects can include beach clean-ups, yard clean-ups for a neighbor, volunteering at local non-profits, cleaning up trash, or anything to give back to one another and make the community a better place Proof will need to be submitted such as photos, letters of accomplishment, or verification from local non-profits
The Shea’s YBA Winter Basketball Program will run mid-December through the end of March There will be two sets of evaluations on December 20 & 2 Games & practices will be scheduled every Sunday from January 3 –March 7 Playoffs & All-Star Games will run March 14-28 Game times will be between the hours of 3:00PM –9:00PM
Participants will be broken into 6 teams of 9 players There will be 8 regular season games and 2 practices 4 of the 6 teams will compete in single elimination playoffs and Finals
The league will name 14 All-Stars and 14 Rising-Stars Awards for MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Most Improved player will also be named
Players, coaches, volunteers, and referees will be required to wear a mask at all times, even during active play and will be encouraged to sanitize hands regularly Participants will need to check in with administration upon arrival and wait as a team to enter the gym. Spectators will not be allowed to attend
Throughout the season, as always, we will be following all Massachusetts Covid-19 Guidelines for Youth Sports and will have the current guidelines readily available each day A full description of guidelines for youth sports can be found at mass.gov
